Upon her arrival in New York City in 1889, Italian émigré Francesca Cabrini is met with the harsh realities of disease, rampant crime, and destitute youth.

Undeterred, she embarks on a bold quest to persuade the city’s mayor to provide shelter and medical care for the destitute.

Despite her faltering English and frail constitution, Cabrini harnesses her innovative spirit to forge a bastion of optimism, the likes of which the world has never witnessed.
