2017 | tHRILLER/DRAMA
In the early days of his career with the NAACP, Thurgood Marshall confronts a formidable challenge. Tasked with a case in the traditionalist stronghold of Connecticut, Marshall steps into the fray when Eleanor Strubing, an affluent socialite, levels charges of sexual assault and attempted murder against Joseph Spell, her Black driver.
Marshall joins forces with Sam Friedman, a local Jewish attorney inexperienced in criminal law. United, they craft a defense amidst a maelstrom of racial and anti-Semitic prejudices, fighting against a tide of public opinion convinced of Spell’s guilt.
